Who We Are:
- A community garden where clients with developmental and intellectual disabilities learn skills through horticulture
- Vegetables, fruit, flowers and herbs are lovingly grown. Clients learn the unique skill of growing a garden in South Florida
- Everyone has the opportunity to eat some of the harvest and to learn about healthy food choices
- We have accommodations for all gardners
Benefits of Gardening:
- Helps establish and strengthen social relationships while working as part of a group
- Teaches vocational skills that can be applied in many work settings
- It is valuable exercise done at a self-direction pace, enhancing both gross and fine motor skills
- Teaches responsibility and encourages problem solving
- Reduces stress and anger
- Stimulates the senses
