Ways to Volunteer

Give the Gift of Time and Friendship
Volunteer at JARC

Men and women with developmental disabilities have two types of relationships: those with family members and those with paid caregivers. If it weren’t for our volunteers, the extraordinary people JARC Florida serves would rarely have the opportunity to form a real and lasting relationship with others.

As a volunteer, you can provide an extraordinary individual an opportunity to experience a relationship with an adult who is not a caregiver. This is especially important for adults whose parents are aging and who must, at some point, face the loss of the family members they have relied on for companionship.

By fulfilling a need that takes special understanding, patience and love, you, too, may experience the rewards of a new friendship.

Why Becoming a JARC Pal is Important

Some of our special needs clients don’t have visitors, for a variety of reasons. We want them to feel special and to form friendships where both the client and the pal benefit from the experience.

Time commitment:

  • 1-2 times a month for about 1/2 hour, for at least a 3 month commitment.

Weekend and weekday visit times available
